<description>Impact of culture on tourism development in Uganda: a case study of Hoima district.
Saviour, Jimmy
Culture creates authenticity and distinctiveness in the global tourism market. In this regard tourism experiences‖ that can connect people and visitors to local cultures are very important. Purpose of the study was to examine the impact of culture on tourism development in Uganda; a case study of Hoima district in Bunyoro sub region. The study was based on three objectives namely: to assess the impact of people towards tourism development, to assess the impact of cultural sites to tourism development in Uganda and to assess the impact of cultural institutions towards tourism development in Uganda. Using a cross section design both qualitative and quantitative data was collected from 71 respondents using questionnaires and interviews. Both spearman’s regression analysis and regression analysis were used to show the relationship between variables. The findings show that people’s norms and practices have been positive fundamental transformation which has enhanced cultural sites, cultural institutions and development of tourism (R= 0.99, Sig 2-Tailed, F-Value = 4.14 and p-value =0.085753&gt;0.05). Similarly, Pearson correlations of 0.99 (Sig 2-Tailed), indicated that Cultural sites have been positive fundamental transformation which has enhanced people’s norms and practices and cultural institutions. In addition, Pearson correlations of 0.98 (Sig 2-Tailed), it indicates that cultural sites have been positive fundamental transformation on development of tourism. The researcher recommended for more funding mechanism to the tourism sector, developing cultural routes through partnership and enhancing on the marketing strategies.

<title>Digital governance and transparency in Namayingo district local government, Uganda.</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12283/4818</link>
<description>Digital governance and transparency in Namayingo district local government, Uganda.
Bwire, Joel Isaac.
This study examined the impact of digital governance on transparency in Namayingo District Local Government, Uganda. Specifically, the study sought to: (i) establish the effect of technology on transparency, (ii) assess the impact of interaction on transparency, and (iii) determine the effect of government on transparency. The research was underpinned by the Task– Technology Fit (TTF) Theory proposed by Goodhue and Thompson (1995), which posits that technology enhances performance when its capabilities align with the tasks users are required to perform. A cross-sectional research design and quantitative approach were adopted, targeting a population of 45 employees, from which a sample of 40 respondents was drawn using Krejcie and Morgan’s (1970) sampling table. Data were collected using structured, close-ended questionnaires based on a five-point Likert scale and analysed using SPSS version 20, generating descriptive statistics, reliability and validity measures, as well as correlation and regression outputs. The results revealed that technology accounted for 53.4% of the variance in transparency (Adj. R² = 0.534, p &lt; 0.01), interaction explained 71.8% (Adj. R² = 0.718, p &lt; 0.01), and government-related factors accounted for 68.9% (Adj. R² = 0.689, p &lt; 0.01). These findings indicate that all three dimensions technology, interaction, and government have a significant and positive effect on transparency in local government operations. The study’s significance lies in its contribution to the growing body of empirical evidence on how digital governance mechanisms can strengthen transparency in local government contexts, particularly in resource-constrained settings. It provides actionable insights for policymakers, administrators, and development partners on the adoption of technological systems that are both functional and interactive, thereby fostering citizen participation in decision-making, enhancing accountability and reducing opportunities for data manipulation and misuse of resources. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Namayingo District Local Government invests in advanced and interactive technological platforms that promote visibility, traceability, and inclusiveness in governance processes, ultimately improving public trust and service delivery.

<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12283/4816</link>
<description>Tourism destination image on the growth of tourism industry in Uganda:
Taban, Siraji
The study was about destination image and tourism growth and development in Uganda. The study was aimed at achieving the following objectives; to examine the impact of destination cognitive image on the growth of tourism industry in Uganda, to examine the impact of tourist activities factors on the growth of tourism industry in Uganda, to examine the impact of infrastructural factors to the growth and development of tourism industry in Uganda. The study discovered that despite the importance of destination image on tourism sector very few papers have tried to explore the relationship of destination image on tourism growth and development in Uganda. This creates the question of what is the impact of destination image on tourism growth and development in Uganda economy. 36 respondents were selected to give their views about destination images and tourism growth in Uganda and closed-ended questionnaire was the main tool used to collect the responses from the different respondents. We used cross sectional research design and a quantitative approach. Findings showed that there is a very significant impact between destination image and tourism growth and development; cognitive image and tourism growth; and infrastructure factors and tourism growth. The study therefore recommends that improvement of tourism growth requires a good destination image having facilities, cognitive image for instance the tourist attractions, accommodation and infrastructure.
