<title>A computerized library management system :</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12283/3949</link>
<description>A computerized library management system :
Watsemba, Sharon
For many years, institutions such as secondary schools and colleges have used the file based manual system to manage library use. Whereas this was quite effective for some time, due to the expansion of the library and the increase in the number of the library users such as students, the system wastes a lot of time especially when searching for a particular book or resource. In response to this problem, more librarians have been added and this has increased the costs of managing the library. This inefficiency, led to the study that was aimed at automating the booking keeping function of the library. &#13;
As study was carried out at John Paul SS and it was discovered that the manual system had inefficiencies ranging from time wastage, high cost of operation in terms of human resources, long search time and data redundancy among others. a computer based LMS was developed using notepad. This new system allows the users to add books into the system, search for books from the system database, track member information, managing borrowing among others. &#13;
By automating library operations, the school will enjoy the advantages of using databases and transaction processing systems.

<title>Web-based alumni record management system:</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12283/3930</link>
<description>Web-based alumni record management system:
Wanyenya, Winnie
Most secondary school lack a web-based alumni system for keeping in touch with the alumni and knowing their way about, they still use traditional methods of recording through media to collect alumni data. The main object of this study was to develop a Web-based Alumni Record Management System for Bugobero High School that will enable the school easily connect and inform the large fraternity of alumni the school programs by uploading events and alumni will commit themselves to participate in the events at will and contact to know and remember their fellows. &#13;
The system was developed following the activity phases of Rapid Application Development. In this method, the system’s prototype is built following the phases of events from requirement definition, software design, implementation and unit testing and operational maintenance. The prototypes were used to elicit more system and user requirements and to make necessary changes or modifications to the system to address user preferences. &#13;
The system was found to be cheaper than the existing systems especially in linking up with the alumni.

<title>A web-based hospital records management system:</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12283/3916</link>
<description>A web-based hospital records management system:
Soyekwo, Hosta
This report is a representation of the web-based hospital records management system at Bukwo main hospital. The major aim of the project was to develop a web-based (online) hospital records management system to store patient records so that they can easily be used in the future. &#13;
The rapid application development (RAD) approach was employed in developing the system as it was the only convenient system to me. &#13;
The system was tested and further observed to see its validity to society and found useful in the hospital. I also believe that the system can still be upgraded to allow for shearing of information among the hospitals in a particular region to avoid duplication of patient information in other health facilities. &#13;
The major languages used in developing the system are PHP and MySQL. &#13;
In my conclusion hospitals in Sebei region and Uganda at large should invest more in electronic medical records system to ease handling of patient information.

<title>Automated competence-based curriculum results processing system:</title>
<link>http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12283/3915</link>
<description>Automated competence-based curriculum results processing system:
Sanya, Moses
This report is a representation of the Automated competence-based curriculum results processing system with the case study of Petta community secondary school. The major aim of the project was to develop an automated competence-based curriculum results processing system which the school can use to carry out the results processing and management and produce report cards in the new competence-based lower secondary curriculum. &#13;
The study population were the students and the staff of Petta community secondary school. The Sampling techniques used were Simple random and purposive sampling and data was collected through interviews, observation, focused group discussion and document review. &#13;
Rapid Application Development (RAD) approach was used in developing the system. &#13;
The data models used were the context diagram, Data Flow Diagram, and Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) &#13;
The system was developed using PHP for server-side scripting, HTML for designing data entry forms, other tools included CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and MySQL for building the database management system.  &#13;
The system was tested and validated to ensure that it efficiently and effectively meets the results processing needs of the school. &#13;
Conclusively, the developed system is an efficient and effective tool which schools can use for results processing and management in the new competence-based curriculum.
