Abstract:
This report was prepared by me basing on my training activity during my attachment in Ataa farms Katine Limited, Ojom parish Katine sub/county Dakabela county, Soroti district. The training lasted for two months. It is a mandatory for students of Busitema University Arapai campus after the end of a full academic year and the training is aimed at equipping the students with sufficient practical skills and get exposed to real life in the field.
My training begun from 28th Feb 2022 and ended on 22th April 2022.it begun with orientation after which I was introduced to real field conditions for the rest of my training.
I participated in several field activities such as feeding of the farm animals, brooding In poultry unit, grinding and mixing of animal feeds spraying of piggery unit flow with Imo which was meant to keep out bad smell and clear of some bacteria from the piggery unit, vaccination of chicks, changing of the litters, disinfection and cleaning of the poultry unit and equipment used, record keeping removal of the old farm structures, provision of clean water used for different farm activities like washing and cleaning of equipment used, provision of fresh clean water for drinking by farm animals, spraying of farm animals i.e. pigs, dairy cattle which was done regularly. Raising of the water tank, dressing of chicken etc. All the above activities were accomplished during training period.
In above field activities I was able to acquire a lot of skills and knowledge to add on my class theoretical knowledge.
In conclusion, the farm was a wonderful potential value to the farm director, community and sub county.
The great experience and skills gained in the study have rendered strength to me to become a future farm manager and above all, I thank the farm manager and the staffs of Ataa Farm Katine Limited, most especially the farm executive director for accepting my school letter since it helped me to transform the theory I learnt from class to real practical in animal production and management.
