Abstract:
The industrial training was carried out at Soroti Catholic Diocese Integrated Development Organisation (SOCADIDO). SOCADIDO is a development arm of Soroti Catholic Diocese in Eastern Uganda with its head offices at plot 27, Serere road Soroti Municipality. It is active in the districts of Soroti, Katakwi, Kapelebyong, Kumi, Ngora, Amuria and Serere.
Its current interventions are large in the fields of Agricultural development for enhanced livelihoods and stability, Business and income security, Disaster reduction, climate change adaptation.
During internship, the following activities were carried out. Orientation, field marking for bamboo planting, Nursery bed preparation for vegetables, mulching of plots, transplanting of vegetables, making of kitchen garden, making of sack mounds, making of organic pesticide etc.
The internship increased my skills in Nursery bed preparation, organic pesticide making, Agricultural extension and learnt more about culture and norms of work.
I recommend the organisation to purchase the sprinkler irrigation system to enable production of vegetables even during dry season.
I also recommend the University to increase on the period of internship to enable more learning.
