An internship report carried out in Lumino sub-county, Busia district local government, from 19th /June/2023 to 11th /August/2023.

Abstract

This report contains and describes all the activities, skill gained, challenges encountered during the industrial training, conclusions and recommendation derived from the challenges encountered during the industrial training from19th /June/2023 to 11th /August/2023 at Busia District Local Government. Busia district has got several sub-counties among which are; Lumino, Masaba, Masafu, Dabani, Buhehe sub-county among others but of those entire sub county, I was attached to Lumino Sub-county where I did from my industrial training. Lumino Sub-county is currently operating in many enterprises like poultry, piggery, cattle, goats among others, the farmers have got breeds of pigs like Large white, Landrace, cattle breeds of Jersey, freshens and poultry where they rear broilers, layers and broilers. The objective/ mission of industrial training is to make student benefit from the skill and knowledge gained from the field, apply the knowledge they get from field and build confidence in a student. During my industrial training I participated in doing the following; vaccination dogs, cats, treatment and de-worming, teaching and Monitoring PDM farmers who received funds and much other management practice as far as animal management is concerned. The activities have helped me gain a lot of skills and knowledge like disease diagnose, vaccination, communication, treatment and castration. However, I also faced some challenges like rain, sunshine language barrier, and remoteness of some areas. I would therefore recommend the district to renovate roads to solve the problem of remoteness and improve on accessibility of veterinary officers to farmers as well as internship students. In conclusion, all the activities were implemented and the industrial training was done successfully
