Abstract:
Bulago stock farm is one of the twelve establishment of NAGRC & DB. Bulago stock farm is found in Bulambuli district, Bulaago S/C in Busiya parish about 35 km from Bulambuli district headquarters and 3 km from Bulaago trading center. Industrial training was conducted at the above farm for a period of eight weeks with several activities such as spraying animals, pregnancy diagnosis, postmortem, drenching, disease control and prevention, milking, castration, among others. Field attachment is basically aimed at improving the practical skills and knowledge of the students in relation to lecture room knowledge like livestock management practices, disease diagnosis, drug usage and dosage and also extension knowledge like personal confidence. The internship ended successfully, however there were some challenges I encountered such as bad weather, lack of equipment’s to carry out certain operations, no motivation, tiresome work, and limited time for internship. Therefore, I recommend that students should be motivated at the end of the exercise, the farm management should recruit more technical staff so that more knowledge and skills can be passed to students, and the university should adjust on the time allocated for internship so that more can be discovered.
