Abstract:
The research was carried out in Bubulo Sub County, Manafwa district on price change, household income and productivity; A case of maize production. Objectives of the research included: i) to find out the relationship between price change and household income. ii) to find out the relationship between price change and productivity. iii) to find out the relationship between household income and productivity. A cross sectional research survey was used. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 381 respondents who were purposively selected from Bubulo sub-county using simple random sampling technique. Data was analyzed using statistical package for social scientists’ version 20 (SPSS). Hypotheses were tested using regression.
The results revealed that maize price changes and household income significantly affect productivity among maize farmers. The study has the following recommendations; 1) the government should set maize price below which the consumer should not buy the produce to increase farmers’ income. 2) the government should also set price of maize which is attractive to farmers and can encourage them to produce more thus increasing productivity. 3) the government should finance the farmers through credit schemes to improve on household income so as to increase their productivity.
