Presentation to the parliamentary sectoral committee of education and sports on January 17th, 2022 :
Waako, Paul; Busitema University
Busitema is a multi-campus Science and Technology based Public University located in
the Eastern region. The academic programs aim to address unemployment, poverty,
and inequality in the wider society. They further aligned to the National Development
Plan II (NDP II), Vision 2040, NRM Manifesto (2016-2021), and the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). The University has operational Campuses at Arapai,
Busitema, Mbale, Nagongera, Namasagali, and Pallisa (see Figure 1), and each
campus with its niche. Our campuses are located in rural areas; the location bestows
the University a more incredible opportunity to transform rural communities than any
other University in Uganda.
