Abstract:
The study was carried out in Busolwe sub-county Butaleja District. The purpose of this study was to identify the underlying factors that influence adoption of biogas technology among dairy farmers. The sample size comprised of 120 dairy farmers who were purposively sampled. The findings from the study revealed that, the significant factors that influence adoption of biogas among dairy farmers were household income, dairy farmer's bead's highest level of education and the land, the underlying influences to the areas of significance were; poverty at household level low level of education and early marriages among women who are the main implementers of the technology. The study recommends that the sub-County government of Busolwe should promote education, create awareness, create conducive environment for dairy farmers to access loans from financial institutions, encourage organizations charged with the promotion of biogas technology to offer subsidies to households ensure improved provision of technical services in the area of bio gas construction, extension service provider should encourage dairy farmers to pull resources together that will reduce the cost of construction of biogas digester.
