Abstract:
The field attachment was carried out from Nadunget sub-county located in Moroto District from the 28th of Feb to the 03rd of May/2022.
The projects are owned by the Cooperation and Development and deal majorly with animal and crop sections, respectively, which consist of so many activities. A number of animal and crop management practices were carried out during my stay at the fields such as de-worming and spraying goats against ticks and lice as well as mange. I also participated to support farmers in clearing their gardens to receive crops, plus identification of diseases in poultry with the corresponding treatment.
During the IT under crop section where I was allocated, I carried out various activities that included field marking, planting different types of crops, crop protection, pests, and disease identification and their control measures, gap filling, etc., and in the animal section activities included; treating of sick poultry, spraying poultry house, restraining of goats, etc.
I also gained skills and knowledge in crop production like identification of various types of seedlings in the greenhouse, field marking techniques, identifying different types of crops, identification of pests and diseases in crops, and the common tools used in crop and animal production.
While in the training, I learned a lot of things both practically and theoretically that gave me more knowledge to add to that one that we learned from class about crop and animal production,
a lot of activities were carried out from the field with maximum care to avoid problems of during data analysis.
I wish to request the administration of the C&D to maintain the production of tree seedlings at Nadunget Learning Centre so as to promote the afforestation of Karamoja.
Furthermore, the organization needs to support the farmer field schools in their savings by injecting some capital into their savings boxes so as to motivate them and so as to support their enterprises.
Also, the organization should strongly support the farmer field schools on their savings by putting some money in their saving boxes so as to motivate them and pay the workers in time to avoid them getting discouraged from doing their activities being allocated by the organization.
