Industrial training report conducted at Busitema university Arapai campus farm, Soroti (u) from 28th Feb to 6th May 2022.

Abstract

I. T is the work experience that is relevant to the academic and professional development of a student prior to graduation where students put into practice what has been theoretically learnt. I. T equip students with practical and hands-on skills needed in the world of work, enable students to interface and get exposure to the dynamics of applying theoretical knowledge to real industrial routine operations, etc. I. T was conducted at BUAC farm found in the eastern region Arapai sub-county Soroti district. BUAC is a faculty of agriculture and animal sciences r Arapai agricultural college. Recently in 2009, it was upgraded as an independent public university known as BUAC offering academic programs on the certificate (CGA), diploma (DCP, and DAP), and bachelor programs (A P M, B AB & BSA) Industrial training was carried out over a period of 10 weeks which commenced on 28th Feb 2022 and to 06th May 2022 always beginning at 8:00a.m to 5: 00 pm from Monday to Friday of every week of study in which we carried out activities like, orientation, banana establishment, feeding pigs, feed mixing, castration of piglets, breed identification, spraying of goats, treatment of sick animals, grafting and budding, etc. During the course of the attachment, I gained several skills in production and management, aging goats, disease investigation, and animal treatment. The activities out carried gave me knowledge and skills thus getting new ideas on both crop animal production and management which will help me in the future to choose the best enterprise that I can manage based on the skills and knowledge got during I.T The university farm should get adequate equipment to facilitate learning during the attachment or admit a few students for internship for effective learning and handling.
