dc.description.abstract This course is meant to introduce the student b the aspect of working with the community outside the campus in order to learn the farming practices, collect the data and analyze the data collected for the purpose of report writing. The course is aimed at explaining the importance of industrial attachment in agriculture training, explain routine processing and related activities and explaining the techniques of handling the community. Teso Tropical Fruit Cooperative Union Ltd can be traced way back to the year 2000 as Teso Tropical Fruit Association (TEFGA) and later to Teso Tropical Fruit Growers Cooperative Society Ltd. It was transformed into Teso Tropical Fruit Cooperative Union (TEFCU) on 24th April 2013 after registering with Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives No, 10193/RCS-TEFCU is not only a partner to Soroti Fruits limited but is a 20% share shareholder charged with, supply of up to 60%ofthe total raw material (quality fresh fruits mangoes and oranges) required in the processing of juice in Soroti fruit processing factory. The activities being carried out during the industrial training and their descriptions: Staff meeting and orientation held at the office of Teso tropical fruit co-operative union ltd this was done in order to provide guidance to students about the organization police, an overview of the organization, and briefing students on the programs and activities being implemented and generating the work plan to be followed during the industrial training practice. Farm allocation was done with the help of the field s supervisor and the production and marketing officer of TEFCU and reporting of weekly reports so as to get acquainted with the working environment. Farmer mobilization and profiling was another activity done in order to ensure farmers acquire more professional skills not only in basic production but also in farm business management. Seed sales and delivery to the potential farmers and teaching them on how to plant. Learning exchange visits in different farms and farmers. Weed management to ensure reducing competition between the crops and the weeds for nutrients. Soil and water conservation practices (creation of water catchment channels and water basins) around the fruit trees stump. Pumping to ensure pest and disease was controlled and managed effectively. en_US
