An internship is professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student's field of sturdy or career interest. I conducted my internship for nine weeks (28/2/2022 to 25/4/2022) from CURAD which is located in Gayaza-Kabanyolo. CURAD has three branches, the Rural Agribusiness Innovation hub in kapeeka, Coffee Entrepreneurship Bureau of Uganda (CEBU) and incubation centre in Namanve.
The key objectives of this training was to attain life and practical skills, general coffee value addition skills, sales skills, skills to obtain employment in agribusiness and customer relation skills.
I carried out several activities specifically coffee production like sorting, weighing, measuring moisture content, roasting, packaging, branding, sealing coffee bugs and making different coffee beverages. I also carried out some research on agribusiness incubation, 4Ps of marketing, cottage industries and parish development modal.
I was found out that customer relation, sales management, coffee value addition, time keeping, ethical conduct and team work is important at the work place.
I gained a lot of skills like general coffee value addition skills, sales skills, skills to obtain employment in agribusiness, office equipment skills and customer relation skills.
However, I faced some challenges while in the field such as language barrier which made me miss some information, power shortage, limited finance and unfavourable climatic conditions, I recommend the organization to provide for the internees financially and ensure power stability.
In conclusion, the internship was successfully done, beneficial and interesting. There was maximum cooperation and interaction with the people at CU D and internees which built us into young agribusiness managers.
