dc.description Industrial training report en_US
dc.description.abstract This report is about a collection of information that is obtained from a number of activities that was grouped into three categories namely field work, office work and abattoir work from different sectors that have been running 28/02/2022-28/04/2022 under the course module BSA2209 (farm and community practices) carried out within 8 weeks at northern division office Soroti City as one of the modules second semester year two, orientation and reporting for training commenced on 28/02/2022 at the office, here we were able to form three groups for easy management of time during the training, each group could do different activity within the week and in rotation, each group was able to do all activities, Students we were given opportunity to have a hand on experience at the working environment from the different sectors both crop and animal so as to get acquainted with their practical potential in the theoretical knowledge. The learning was a two-way link, we could visit farmers at their farm, receiving them at the office and hands on meat inspection in soroti City abattoir, diseases like Tuberculosis (Tb), Contagious bovine pleura pneumonia (CBPP) and Liver fluke were inspected in parts like lungs, liver among others, on addition we could also visited arapai market for meat inspection. In the office we could receive visitors, organize the files and entering data, in the field we visited poultry farm in madera farm soroti city to vaccine birds, collecting data from veterinary shops and agro-input shoos- citrus management was done, here activities like pruning, pest and disease identification, weeding and preparation of land in the citrus garden was successfully done under the guidance of an agricultural officer, in an abattoir we could inspect meat in particular, I visited on going pig abattoir construction in Nakatunya. I was able to apply classroom knowledge during the training like develop work plan which guided us to successfully finish up community outreach, I also gained skills such as Meat inspection skills and knowledge was obtained at abattoir, this motivated me to set a well-organized abattoir, this training was meaningful in the sense that it was always practical with little theory which brought the whole picture of agriculture all about, though it was practical with hands-on activities, though I faced number of challenges like inadequate money to facilitate the movement during training and therefore, I recommend the organization to educate the communities so that they realize the benefits of starting income I generating activities in order to improve on the standards of living especially among the poor to fight against poverty and BUAC should manage the time provided and the program should be promoted as it exposes student to hands or, experience which prepare them to fit in the world demand. en_US
