NASECO is a private Ugandan seed company with the longest experience in the production of the highest quality seeds. Its core business is in seed breeding, multiplication, processing and marketing. It is located in Kihonge village, Buruko ward, Nalweyo town council, Bugangaizi west, kakumiro district in western Uganda. It is along Hoima - kakumiro road near Masaigi stream. Its vision is to become the number one seed company in Uganda and to sustainably increase its presence in neighboring countries especially Sudan, Congo, Rwanda, Kenya and any other countries. To be able to achieve the above vision, NASECO wants to pursue a strategy called "Differentiation through quality and innovation". Objectives of the internship exercise are to identify the knowledge and skills learned in the training and develop new skills by being involved in actual cases and projects, to gain the needed experience for example in some cases where most employers may want the student to have some experience before they are to hire or employ the student, to identify helpful connections as far as management is concerned whereby supervisors can guide me during the training of my carrier. To provide a student with important contact with the legal community which may lead to career opportunities, to expose students to different sections of agriculture like crop production as to enable they to acquire more knowledge, skills in areas of career. For each of the departments we were attached with supervisors that were to act as our guidance and trainers in the different sectors as will be stipulated in each of the activity of each department. The departments included factory section, research section, quality assurance laboratory and farm section activities carried out during the it included the orientation by the human resource operating the packing machine supervision of the maize quantifying team and to carry out samples that are taken to the laboratory, at the sorting tables where I sorted out diseased maize like ear rot, rotten mave cobs, off types Carried out sampling of the samples at the quality assurance laboratory and also Purity test carried out, Germination test carried out Evaluation of the germination carried out Recording the results the purity test, germination test and moisture content, disease assessment. During the research section we carried out Spraying, Mulching, and Irrigation, Visits Kyakataba and Kyaisajwa Shoot capping, development of the tags, tagging of the fields Pollination using the pollinating bags. |
