Abstract:
The industrial training was conducted at NaSARRI in Serere sub- County, Serere County, and Serere district which is located south of' Soroti district about 27km from Soroli City. The main objective of the training was to produce practical or hands on orientated graduåtes- who meet the job-related competences and skills needed by their prospective employers.
During the training at NaSARRl. various activities were carried Out which. included: disease identification (blast.) in finger millet, smut in sorghum, seed counting using manual seed counter in cotton, weighing or seeds ill legumes-dressing of seeds in legume seeds, storing, rope marking, bulking, digitization of seeds in legume- seeds, crops, scouting, tagging, emasculation, crossing, watering, plot genotype, and Rep identification 100 seed count, grafting, potting, marking a yolk.
However, some challenges were encountered during the IT such as inadequate equipment for laboratory and data collection work, drought that adversely affects the experiments.
In conclusion, I gained a wealth of' experience in regards to work and I am very optimistic that this industrial training will contribute significantly to my carrier development as an agricultural professional.
I recommend NaSARRI to purchase more equipment for laboratory use and data collection.
