Abstract:
Industrial training is a course module that is basically done from outside the University with the intension of imparting practical life experience in the field of work, knowledge and skills to the students. I conducted my training from Uwepo farm Limited located in Kabizzi village, Nyenga division, Njeru municipality in Buikwe district, for a period often weeks from 28th February to 29th April 2022. The major objectives of these trainings is to enable students apply the theory part studied in the lectures at campus into the real life experience, get more knowledge in field and impact it to the society of work and be able to be problem solvers to the challenges that farmers or farms face.
Various activities were carried out during internship and these include; Nursery management activities like watering, soil sterilisation, making of beds, planting mulberries, cashew nuts, bread fruit, Ingar trees, Neem trees, Moringa trees. Other activities included; orientation, health life style, piggery auditing, castration of pigs controlling soil erosion, accounting, fodder grasses, horticulture lecture, agro forestry, urban farming, aquaculture, apiculture, farming God's way, livestock management and a field tour to Kangulumila where vanilla production is done.
I learnt the main work principles to follow like, problem-solving, no excuse-making, no blame shifting, no mediocrity, time keeping and creative thinking.
Conclusively the training was successfully done due to the cooperation and the maximum efforts observed by the Internees, field supervisors and the rest of the staff of Uwepo farm limited.
