Abstract:
This study report was compiled during industrial training that lasted for a period of nine weeks from 28th /02/2022 to 27th /06/05/2022 at Dan Church Aid (DCA) organization in Yumbe district. The training was to fulfill the requirements needed for the award of a bachelor of science in agriculture '(BSA) in of Busitema University. During the farm and community practice I carried out many agricultural livelihoods related activities which includes orientations to training conducted land rights training, distribution and training of vulnerable households, care groups and health centers on agronomy of vegetables seeds (tomatoes, onions, amaranthus, and cow peas) attended weekly activity planning and review meetings every Mondays, attended digital marketing linkage workshop training, conducted training of TOTs on farming as a business, distribution of tree seedlings to the DCA environment and energy beneficiaries with refugee settlement, Kululu Sub County, demonstration of seedling planting, training of beneficiaries on soil and water conservation structures and other activities, In conclusion the short period of time spend at DCA triggered and shaped me -in the areas associated with the dynamics of NGO work Not only did I' gain knowledge and practical skills, but I was also given chance to share practical hands on knowledge experience with the field staff of the organization especially with the project officers, other categories of field workers and farmers. The field attachment equipped me with the practical knowledge of activity work plan development, field visits and verification of fields, extension skills of learning from farmers and farmers learning from the extension workers and mobilization of lead farmers. It was recommending that the organization should speed up with the processes of releasing activity funds on time. The organization should allow students to also implement 50% their activities in work plan so that they are widely exposed. Organization should intensify on field visits in order to compensate on time lost as result of interference caused by the unfavorable conditions and other.
