Abstract:
Makerere University Agricultural Research Institute Kabanyolo (MUARIK) is blessed with vast productive land that has allowed the setup of numerous agricultural enterprises or units on file farm managed by the farm manager, heads of sections, heads of units, the training coordinator, and then general farm workers. These enterprises are; dairy production, pasture establishments, poultry section, piggery, banana production, vermiculture, banana section, aquaculture and so much more.
All these are well established on 230 hectares of land demarcated with different names and initials like C series where banana, poultry, and pastures production takes place, F series where piggery and cassava production is done, E series where soybean production is done and so many series like Kyetume series, Nalyaamagonja series and A series where other different enterprises are located. With the help of the training coordinator, we are allocated to the different enterprises and handed over to the head of units and other workers with whom we work in harmony to the given tasks of the day hands-on in the presence of the training coordinator, but before this all, we on a daily basis always have a dairy session every morning from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM where we do 'hand and machine milking, routine dairy practices like castration and dehorning, bucket feeding the calves and so many other activities involved as will be mentioned in the report below. This report consists of four chapters that is Chapter one comprising of the introduction, Chapter two consists of the activities that I participated in during my industrial training Chapter three includes the impact of the industrial training and chapter four includes the conclusions and recommendations as far as my industrial training was concerned.
