Abstract:
CETC is a private sector comprising of different partnerships. Chakig has different sectors or departments such as agricultural sector, forestry which covers 38 hectares, zoo with different animals and birds such as ostriches, tortoises, and parrots, herbal garden, camping ground and accommodation. I carried out my industrial training in all sectors however much effort was on the agriculture, this is because I wanted to exploit the knowledge acquired in classroom by doing practicals in all sectors of the farm. The report comprises the various activities conducted on the farm such as, garden activities, activities in the piggery, cattle, s and poultry sections. The purpose of the internship was to put in practice the skills knowledge acquired in class, social interaction with different farmers, identification and awareness of different diseases in poultry, piggery, cattle and goats and also participation in the agricultural selling and purchase of inputs and outputs. While conducting my industrial training at CETC, I found out the issues faced by the farm and they included shortage of water due to lack of national water or natural sources of water and therefore the farm has to buy water, the problem of unstable power which inconveniences farm activities done a night and insecurity, shortage of fund to invest in the agricultural sector, poor breeds of birds kept on the farm and shortage in casual labour. During the training, I learnt lots of skills such as raising seedlings on the nursery bed, growing of vegetables, castration of piglets, hotel management, feeding ostriches and tortoises, training calves on bucket feeding, vaccination of birds and deworming of pigs and goats. During my industrial training I identified some weak areas which require immediate action to maximize the farm outputs and they include construction of a dam to help in harvesting water during rainy season, rearing of exotic birds, increasing the number of cattle, getting a stable source of power and allowing other investors to solve the problem of fund shortage.
