Abstract:
The industrial training was carried out at Arid Land Development Program (ADP). A rural transformation centre in Abim district for a duration of 2 months (28th Feb to 16th /April 2022 under the Honey project, one of the main projects of ADP
Industrial training is a practical aspect of learning. aimed at equipping students with skills and making them gain experience on organisational activities in line with a student's course of study.
While at ADP the student carried out various activities in line. with the course of study ranging from Sourcing crude honey, purchasing, transporting; and storage through other technical activities of sorting: processing, packaging and branding of honey products, Other activities like supply and marketing of honey were also done. As a result, of the internship, I also gained knowledge and skills in community. outreach and. other extension activities-
Responsibilities that were undertaken by the intern includes, making work plans and monthly report of the honey department; supervising all the activities in the honey house and evaluation, sourcing, and supply of honey among others. The attachment influences my future plan to work as a Marketer.
The intern happened 10 encounter some challenges including transport means from my residence to the organisation, Weather conditions affected some activities especially field works, inadequate funds to facilitate my need, Language barriers. Despite the challenges faced, the industrial training was successful has I was appreciated by the Executive Director and the Programs Manager of the organisation advised me to go back and volunteer with the organisation as a marketer.
