The industrial training at SOCADIDO was attempted to provide practical skills, field practice and experience to enhance the theoretical knowledge that is learnt in class. Therefore, my objectives were to acquaint myself with;
• The various animal and crop husbandry practices and get hands of experience on animal welfare and crop management skills
• Methods of pest control used by farmers in the field.
• Pasture management and preservation,
• Proper crop handling.
The training revealed that some of the theory taught in class slightly differs from what is practically done in the field, for few spacing of different crops learnt in theory were applied in the field practically. The training also revealed that production and management in any enterprise are two different broad activities which must move hand in hand for any farm/organization to get the expected profit or even, more Production and management require a lot of hard work, sacrifice, dedication and determination.
However, .1 was also able achieve some skills on pruning, budding, layering, nursery bed preparation among others. Some of the challenges included shortage of enough tools when We were just beginning, long distance which was sometimes solved by providing transport climatic conditions among others, it is therefore recommended that animal husbandry should be added to benefit students who are pursuing programs related to animal husbandry, irrigation schemes put in place, planting materials purchased in time among others. The training was therefore declared a success after a long run with good recommendations from various- staff members of the organization.
