dc.description Industrial training report en_US
dc.description.abstract Industrial training is a Busitema university program undertaken by all the final year students of all levels of the studies in various causes offered by the university. The key objective is to enable students to demonstrate and execute the class room work practically in the related fields. This industrial training was conducted majorly in the Department of Production of Amuria town council in Amuria district local government for a period of ten weeks. Amuria town council has both the technical and the political structures which are headed by the gown Clerk and the own mayor respectively. The program was successfully conducted under the supervision and guidance of the Agricultural officer who diligently offered all kinds of assistance which deemed relevant to the student. The key activities conducted were majorly rotating in farmer trainings aimed at equipping and capacity building of all the farmers in the town council. These trainings included early land preparation, timely planting of crops, pest and disease surveillance mainly during the break out of the African boll worm in early April 2022, farmer mobilization and selection of beneficiaries, better ways of honey production, and sustainable fish farmers among others. As an upcoming agricultural professional, this training has made me to learn a lot practically in the field, I have gained team spirit skills, urban farmers' mobilization strategies to name but a few. However, during the execution of the industrial trainings there were a few challenges which hampered with the smooth running of the duties planned and these included among many the poor time management by the farmers which used to delay the training process, inadequate inputs supplied by the OWC which made it difficult during farmer beneficiary selection, the prolonged dry spell which delayed the start of the planting activities. The challenges were addressed respectively for example convenient venues were identified; farmers were encouraged to adopt simple irrigation systems to mention but a few. en_US
