There are number of activities carried out of which includes famers field visits, collection of planting returns, follow up of tractor hire loans, appraising of applicants, inspection of field for supply of cassava stem cuttings, weeding of the orchard, planting of mangoes and oranges, planting of cassava at demonstration site etc.
As a result of training, I managed gain knowledge and skills in appraising of applicants for tractor hire loans, establishment of a nursery bed, follow up of tractor hire loans, the responsibilities undertaken during the attachment were demonstration of weeding of orchard, weeding of green pepper seedlings, planting of mangoes and oranges, collection of planting returns from local seed business farmers etc., the attachment influenced my future plan to work as an extension worker in order to build self-confidence and experience to handle future needs,
the field activities were similar with class work
As far as the training was concerned, happened to encounter challenges in transport, inadequate farm inputs, and unstable power supply. Despite the mentioned challenges, the industrial training was successful and interactive in the work environment and the future career from that view I suggest that the relevant organization should continue empowering farmers through introducing different food crops in order to ensure food security and update the students through the website to facilitate communication and coordination by the university.
