Abstract:
The internship training was conducted at Atlas livestock dairy farm in Ngora district for a period of eight weeks from 28th/Feb/ 2022 to 24 /April/2022. The purpose of this training was to equip students with practical skills that are relevant to their respective courses especially in animal production and management. During the ten weeks’ period many activities were under taken and this included meat inspection, sheep docking, record keeping, castration, dehorning, deworming, spraying, pasture conservation, pasture establishment, feeding of farm animals, poultry outreach, animal health monitoring, disease diagnosis and treatment. Some challenges were encountered during the internship period such as hot weather condition and language barrier. However, it was concluded that the industrial training was successfully carried out. In recommendation therefore the farm should set up a biogas plant and also it should produce some value-added products from its raw milk produced, the farm should purchase more cleaning materials such as spades, scrubbing brush to enable cleaning be done with easy.
