Abstract:
Coffee is the main commercial cash crop that supports the livelihoods of most people In Sipi region that is Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwo districts and in order to have sustainable coffee production, Kawacom has facilitated increase in quality coffee production by assisting growers adopt better farming practices, obtain certification and encourage value addition thus empowering live hoods.
We arrived in Kawacom on 28th/02/2022 and the industrial training started on 28th/02/2022 to 06th/05/2022.The activities performed throughout the internship included; GAPS training of PFS and demo farmers, farm inspections, data entry that is updating farmer coordinates and growers lists reviewing field reports, quality control, receipting farmer purchases, reconciling buying documents, data collection, filling farmer entrance forms , taking records of farmers supplied with coffee pulps, preparing bio fertilizers and pesticides and trainings on coffee buying, how to use ICS documents, gender aspects and group dynamics. The purpose of industrial training which was to equip us with practical knowledge and skills, methodology of monitoring and evaluation of research in advanced agriculture was successfully achieved basing on the above activities.
