Abstract:
The internship was held at Consortium for Enhancing University Responsibility for Agribusiness Development (CURAD) for 10 weeks, from 28th February to 6th march 2022.
The report is done to bring out what I learnt from the organization from the various responsibilities and duties that were assigned. Hence, this report looks at the several tasks and activities as well as assignments given to me by my field supervisor, hands-on experience obtained: working environment and challenges that I experienced while working towards the various activities assigned to me thus providing an analysis; evaluation and assessment of the period I spent during the internship.
I got involved in studying on how to obtain and achieve the objectives and benefits of field activities not only to the student and the university but also the organization as well as the background, vision, and mission statements, and organizational' structures.
The major objectives for the internship was to acquire knowledge and achieve on how to add value on different products both practical skills and theory
I got involved and participated in different activities for coffee processing and quality control like sorting of coffee of both green beans and roasted beans which involved in identifying and removing defected coffee, stones, in order to improve on quality of coffee, weighing of coffee, roasting of Coffee to bring out the aroma and flavours of coffee and to kill germs packaging, grinding, branding and seating of coffee. This was mainly done at Coffee Entrepreneurial Bureau of Uganda under CURAD.
In conclusion, the internship program equipped me with technical skills which can help me to excel in life and become a better person. The supervisors, coordinators were good to me and were able to give me all the skills I needed. Though as a farm has challenges but it moving on well. The major challenges were limited funds, communication network.
