Abstract:
This industrial training was carried out at Namugongo Sub County in Kaliro district for 8 weeks that is from 28th Feb t022nd April 2022 mainly on crop and animal sections at Namugongo Sub County.
Objective of this industrial training was to enable students' Interaction with different people in their respective professions of all levels like supervisors, employers, and employees to acquire knowledge in managing crops, animals and other agricultural activities to acquire skills which are practical and to relate them to theory studied from classroom and to get exposed to the outside world.
The IT activities include; orientation, digging nursery beds, meeting farmers and educating them about the agronomic practices, field management on the banana plantation, Transplanting, castration, identification of different crops, monitoring fish farmers, deworming, grafting, damage assessment and soon. The IT enabled me to acquire skills in grafting of mangoes using wedge method, land preparation for nursery beds, crop protection by using a knapsack sprayer, castration, associating with different people and deworming.
The challenge faced during IT include; too much coldness, inadequate funds and was overcome by buying a bed cover and requesting other money from home, disunite among the members.
Skills acquired during IT, it enabled me to acquire skills in grafting, pests and disease control, transplanting among others.
