Abstract:
Industrial training, I (AGB 1209) Is One of the Examinable Module done in Busitema university faculty of agriculture for a period of 10 weeks for a student pursuing bachelor of agribusiness. It exposes the student to the farmers and farm activities in which he or she learns from it and the farmers also learn from him or her, it gives the student experience on farming in general by giving them an opportunity to be exposed to farming activities during their recess term the 10 weeks of industrial training was carried in Agule local government in Pallisa district where got exposure in fields such as crop production, animal production and administration. Participatory discussion, demonstrations method and observation were methods the methods used to obtain information from the farmers during industrial training attachment. Using several toots such as hoes, baskets, gloves, knives, black pills rubber and ring illustrator for carrying out. farm activities. Various activities were carried out such as orientation, groundnut production, meat inspection, dairy farming; nursery bed preparation, marketing of chicken, analyzing striga weed, planting seeds, enterprise selection, castration, mushroom growing I acquired skills like agricultural routine activities, identification of problems. in the farm, use of agrochemicals, disease diagnosis and communication skills. Challenges were also encountered in the course of industrial training attachment such as inadequate. farm tools however some. recommendations were made to the university and the sub county such as purchasing of more tools to allow students to carry practical activities in time, need for timely preparation to allow students to complete their activities in time. The work plans of the attachment, list of reference and field photos are attached at the end of the report. in conclusion, industrial training was marvelous because I was able to obtain practical skills such as animal parasites, disease identification skills on how to operate a motorized knapsack sprayer there for I can apply the skills learnt to create a positive. impact in my community such as. creation of projects as a source employment to unemployed people; it should be continued as it’s the only way for students to excel in practical world outside as it acquaints the students the with basic knowledge in practical.
