dc.description.abstract Farm and community practice introduces the student to community practices and community training. It exposes the student to the community in which he/she learns from it and the community learns from the student. Therefore, my objective during this attachment was; o To explain how the community approach for development works o To investigate community problems and suggest possible solutions o To provide technical advice to community farms and farmers o To learn certain agricultural skills from the community This attachment covered the whole of Fort Portal City During my attachment I had enough interaction with famers during both meetings and field works. They conspicuously aired their challenges and I vehemently always gave my advice and alternatives. Throughout my attachment I discovered there is a quite a similarity between what we are taught in class and what we encounter in the community but there are slight differences especially when you are dealing with informal people the widely known conventional means of teaching don't apply on every community. Communities have different cultures and their own way of doing things, so you have to make sure you blend yourself with community ways that is the through the way of communication using their well-known language, using local materials in training and being patient. One of the challenges during the attachment was that there was a very large area to cover and it was too hectic for a single agricultural officer to cover all farmers so, in some instances some farmers would be left and I would highly recommend they increase enumeration under the agriculture section. en_US
