dc.description.abstract The industrial training which was carried out was meant to expose students to practical skills in the field environment as they translate the knowledge and skills they obtained from school into the field experiences. This also enables the students get a feel of the required skills and potentials needed by employers in the job market hence one of the very important academic activities that need to be done before one is awarded a certificate in their field of specialty This year's internship started on the 28th Feb 2022 up to 6th of May 2022 equivalent to ten weeks over which plenty of activities were carried out under the production and marketing department specifically in Kangai sub county one of the lower local governments in Dokolo district in northern Uganda with direct supervision of the DVO DR Opondo Patrick. Kangai Sub-county is located in the southern part of Dokolo District about 10 from Dokolo-AmoIatar road. The production department of the sub-county was established with the aim of improving the production and productivity of livestock e.g. Bovines, Caprine, Porcine, Ovine, Aves, among others. The department is headed by the DP.M. O with the help of sector heads such as the D. V.O; D.A.O, and DFC) at the District and at the Sub-county we have the Agricultural officer, Fisheries officer and Assistant Animal husbandry officer. This report is made of 4 sections or chapters. Some of the activities carried out included monitoring of agricultural projects, livestock data collection, livestock treatments and vaccinations, farmer trainings, meat inspection and ante mortem inspection, livestock parasite and disease surveillance, farmer home and farm visits and many other duties assigned by the sub county authority throughout my stay in the sub county. Some of the skills got during the internship include gaining of interpersonal skills, gained skills in carrying out proper disease diagnosis, gained skills on general animal management, gained skills on good communication among others while some of the challenges see included the poor road network that caused delays in reaching the farmers, the poor farmer attitudes towards trainings and also high expectation from the extension workers, there was also a challenge of no veterinary input dealers in the sub-county. In conclusion, therefore, the internship was a success and some recommendations include the university improving on communication with the institutions training students during Internship to help smoothen the exercise. en_US
