The objective of this industrial training was to make students benefit from the skills and knowledge gained the fields apply the knowledge they get from the lecture room, in the field and build confidence the students. During internship, I was attached to the department of Production. This was followed by orientation where I was first introduced to the sub-county animal husbandry officer and later, I implemented the activities such as; vaccinations of poultry and animal, spraying of animals, deworming, meat inspection and training of animal management, farm visits, animal treatment, disease surveillance, monitoring and evaluation in all the parishes. These activities have made me to gain a lot of skills and knowledge like: Deworming of goat, pigs and cattle, skills in spraying, skills in general management of animals, communication skills and confidence in training farmers on animal management. During internship, I also some of the challenges like; poor mobilization of the farmers, lack of veterinary drugs and equipment at the Sub County, limited transport means of field work in the production department and poor turn up of farmers to the training. In conclusion all the activities with industrial training were carried Out successfully. I was able to get practical skins and knowledge in line with my career and relating with people in the field. The technical advice that I provided helped address farmers problems and concerns there Were also Some few challenges which hindered the smooth running of the activities making me recommend that proper mobilization of farmers must improve for the training programs to solve problems of poor turn up during such activities, government should increase the number of cycles to solve transport problems and acquire veterinary drugs to be installed so that animals are treated and vaccinated in time. |
