The industrial training l had at kumi hospital farm attempted to provide practical skills, field practice and experience to enhance the theoretical knowledge that I have learnt in class. Therefore, my objectives were to acquaint myself with; The various animal husbandry practices and get hands on experience on animal welfare skills, the various breeds of dairy cattle kept at the farm. Animal diseases their signs, symptoms, and treatment, Methods of pest control used by the farm and Pasture management and preservation. During the course of the industrial training, I participated. in several activities that included milking, feeding animals with silage, dipping animals for tick control, bucket feeding using powdered milk to supplement on the calves’ feedings culling of sick animals to the spread of the. Disease to the health stock, cleaning of the milking parlor by scrubbing, vaccination of animals against CBPPS general cleaning of the farm stead by collection of all polythene bags and burning them, ear tagging using an. ear tag applicator to ease identification of animals, treatment (TR) of cattle to control diseases like calf sours, mastitis, CBPPs east coast fever, Castration (Closed castration) using burdizzo, pasture management (planting, weeding). However much the intern was successful, still there were some challenges faced such as long distances travels from area of residence to the farm} one species of animal was dealt with (i.e., cattie) at the farm. Generally, the IT went on well as it gave me an interesting field experience due to numerous activity I carried out and I therefore recommend the university and _the farm to eater for the welfare of student whenever they are for IT and also the university to give in more practical skills to prepare the students for field work. en_US
