Abstract:
This report describes and has the activities implemented, skills and qualifications gained, challenges faced during the industrial training, conclusion of the report and recommendations derived from the challenges Faced during internship. The objective of this industrial training is to make students benefit from the skills and knowledge gained from the fields, apply the knowledge they get from the classroom in the field and build confidence in the students. During internship I was attached to Nakabango district farm under the guidance and supervision of a veterinary doctor (Dr Elwana Richard) and the farm manager Mr. Kitamilike Johnson,
Orientation was done next where I was introduced to the different sections of the farm i.e„ to cattle kraal, pasture garden, to the apiary, biogas plant etc. House hold farm visit was also done where we talked and offered extension to the different farmers and disease (e.g., FMD) and treatment, Activities where implemented are, castration of animals (bulls and piglets) to control inbreeding and facilitating growth, cattle feeding, parasite control in the cattle by spraying with an acaricides, massive vaccination of cattle in the different sub counties of Jinja e.g., Buwenge; Buyengo etc., Nursery bed preparation and raising for the different crops and their management.
These activities have helped me to gain skills and knowledge like:
Deworming of goals and cattle, skills in Castration; skills ill general management, the following challenges were faced during internship, also face some challenges like or animals, communication skills during extension and confidence in training farmers on animal and crop management; poor mobilization of the farmers, 1ack of veterinary drugs and equipment at the Sub County, limited transport means for field work in the production department: poor turn of the farmers to the training.
