A comprehensive Report on Industrial Training Carried Out At Butambala District Local Government Under Production Department.

Abstract

Farm and community practice in a course module set all the end of first year under Bachelor of animal production and management. In this course, students are attached to different farms or institutions of their choice where they acquire skills and are exposed to different farm practice in a practical point of view.

I was attached to Butambala District under production department and my internship started on 22nd February 2022 to 06th May, 2022. The production department has six sub counties make up Butambala district and each sub county has a veterinary or assistant veterinary officer. The following activities and enterprises carried out in the different sub counties. Poultry enterprise, piggery, dairy, good shoats’ enterprise.

During my stay in Butambala District under production department, I participated in many various activities including the following;- Ear tagging, castration, cold chain, controlling mange in pigs, spraying animals against ticks, feed mixing, silage making, feeding of animals, anti-mortem and post mortem of animals, vaccination of birds/ poultry, slashing and general cleaning of abattoir, farm visits and follow ups, trainings field schools, construction and making animal sheds and feed troughs respectively. Attending council meetings, animal public health meetings, report writing and record keeping, artificial insemination.
