dc.description Industrial training report en_US
dc.description.abstract Industrial training is a program organized by the academic staff of BUAC, department of agribusiness and extension for students to link and apply what they learn in class during lecture hours and what is the field practically and it takes a period of 10 weeks. This was done by learning, sharing and participating in all activities undertaken. During this period at LES, different sections were visited and practical done and daily, poultry and piggery, where different technical people and animal husbandry officers e;g. Mr. Rwakabura, Madam Aminah Ssebi, Mr. Wabasa Antony and others taught and guided us practically to acquire knowledge and skills in these sections. The programme always stalted in the morning at 4:00 with milking in the dairy section as practicals were recorded in the log book given to students by BUAC. During the period, different Skills and knowledge for example in poultry management from day one old chicks, swine management practices, pasture management and improvement and calf management were acquired which will enable me to apply in the field so as to sustainably satisfy myself in terms of work specifically animal production and management and hence better livelihood. Also -some challenges were faced and these; included the high expenses in terms of feeding and renting due to the long period of the programme, overworking the students because the institute had a few workers and finally the animals were few in number and some students did not get their hands on some practicals which were done. In conclusion; the program was fairly completed and BUAC should continue with it since students benefit a lot from it. I recommend BUAC management to reduce the industrial training period to 8 weeks and also reduce on the big size of the log books. For LES, they should recruit more workers; buy more animals and more tools and equipment for use in the different sections so that students get: enough practicals so that they get all what they need for their completion of their courses with all the necessary skills and knowledge, which they can apply and be able to start, up their own agricultural enterprises so as to earn income and hence improve on their livelihoods. en_US
