Abstract:
The end of year one industrial training was aimed at acquainting students with agricultural aspects of agricultural production. As a first-year student, was attached to the National Livestock Resources Research Institute at Nakyesasa district for 10 week’s internship. This internship report therefore discloses all the activities activities I engaged in NaLiRRI and they include the following apiary management, hatchery and brooder management, pasture identification establishment and management Silage, hay making, castration, debugging, heat detection and animal treatment, Proximate analysis in the laboratory and data collection on the Brachiria species. These activities most of them were doe practically and theoretical training. The skills gained from the training Iam going to use them in solving the farmers problems.
During this training, I have learnt lessons which include; grading of eggs, candling and break cut analysis, I was able to identify common categories of pastures which include pasture gasses. multipurpose tress and pasture legumes treatment of' animals' calf management practices, mixing of feeds, apiary setting. However, there are challenges faced like lack enough protective gears and too much lights from candling room affected our observation. The, sprayer pump was too hard to pump therefore, the institute should purchase more protective gears and new pump sprayer.
