Abstract:
Industrial training is a practical module in the BUAC curriculum that exposes and equips students with a lot of practical knowledge and skills which prepares them for the working field of agriculture. It is always done by the second-year students of certificate, diploma, agribusiness and the third-year students of BSA, Students are handled by different field supervisors and technicians at different places attachment and assessment done at the end of the training. The training is always done for a period of two and a half months .1 was attached to different sections both crop and animal by the farm manager Dr. Okwany Patrick with Mr. Olupot Julius as my main field supervisor of DAP A group with the help of other field supervisors from different sections. I carried out different activities such as Banana management, spraying of goats, Field marking , Diagnosis and treatment of different diseases , and spraying against parasites, feeding the animals, cleaning the milking parlor, Napier establishment and management, Ageing, paddock repair and pasture management and others where I gained a lot of practical knowledge and skills like how to Diagnize diseases and treat animals, General management of animals, fencing etc. and I undertook different responsibilities such a cleaning feeding managing pastures and others, In conclusion the training was successful although they were some challenges such as prolonged draught; limited tools an equipment’s which to some extent made delay in accomplishment of the task in the f but I was able to work and meet my expectations, lastly I recommend the univerS1ty to provide technicians with enough tools and equipment’s, More pasture species should be introduced to provide a balanced feed ration to the animals, and should introduce an irrigation system to solve the problem of prolonged draught.
