Abstract:
This report contains and describes the activities implemented, skills and qualifications gained, challenges faced during the industrial training, conclusion of the re and recommendations derived from the challenges faced at Busitema university Arapai pus farm. The objective of this industrial training is to make students benefit from the skills and knowledge gained from the fields, apply the knowledge they get from the classroom in the field and build confidence in the students. During internship I was attached to the different section in animal and crop at the farm This was followed by orientation where I was first introduced to the farm and later I implemented the activities such as; castration of goats, planting of bananas, disease diagnosis and treatment in animal section, management of tomatoes in the screen house, planting of cucumber seeds in the screen house spraying of animals against ticks and goats, AVIS training on skilling youth, pasture conservation and among others. These activities have made me to gain a lot of skills and knowledge like; castration of goats and cattle, skills in general management of animals, communication skills and crop management. During internship, I also face some challenges like; poor mobilization of the students, lack of veterinary drugs and equipment at the farm and limited technicians. In conclusion all the activities were implemented and industrial training was carried out successfully. I was able to gain a lot from it. I was in position of getting practical skills and knowledge in line with my career and relating with people in the field. Much as all were successfully done, there were al s e little challenges which hindered the smooth running of the activities making me recommend the university should equip the farm with drugs, equipment’s screen house equipment for smooth learning among the students.
