Abstract:
This report is a completion of all the information collected during my industrial training carried out at SANGA FIELD STATION which is located a long Mbarara-Masaka main road in SANGA town council Kiruhura district
During the period, a variety of activities were carried out in which new skills and exposure to various cases was gained.
The main objectives of industrial training were to translate and transform the theoretical knowledge acquired while in class into real field (practical hands on) experiences to acquire skills and confidence plus getting exposed to the field of agriculture
Also, the farm comprises of Friesian cross cattle, Brahman, Boran, Mubende goats and Kigezi goats, from Kigezi highlands
Vanous activities were carried out such as Milki, measuring milk per cow after milking, feeding calves on bucket, scrubbing the mil parlor, animal identification, dehorning, pasture management, castration, dipping, heat synchronization, deworming, vaccination, silage making, and blood collection
Despite the fact that my internship was beneficial to me, I also encountered a number of challenges like un favourable condition (rainy season), language barrier etc.
I would recommend that the management and staff of SANGA FIELD STATION should equip the farm with sufficient tools, introduce other enterprises like piggery and poultry, rabbits to utilize vast farm land
All this above information was obtained through discussion, participation and cooperation in all activities.
I conclude by thanking the farm manager Mr Kyokwijuka Peter and the entire staff members.
