A comprehensive report of an industrial training carried out at Abok sub-county local government, Oyam district from 28 Feb to 6 May 2022.

Abstract

This report contains and describes the activities implemented; skills, knowledge and qualifications gained, challenges faced during the industrial training, conclusion of the report and recommendations derived from the challenges faced at Abok sub-County, Oyam District Local Government. The objective of this industrial training is to make students benefit from the skills and knowledge gained from the classroom, apply the knowledge they get from the classroom in the field and build confidence in the students. During, internship was attached to the sector of, veterinary production department. This was followed by orientation where was first introduced to the DPMO AND DVO and later to the sub-county administration structure and later the various field activities such as; farm visits; castration of bully goats and boar pigs’ prophylactic animal treatment, vaccination of pets and chickenin Bar and Barrio parishes respectively, meat inspection, feed mixing and formulation. These activities have made me to gain a lot of skills and knowledge like; Deworming of goats and pigs, skills in Castration, skills in general management of animals, communication skills and confidence in training farmers on animal production and management. During internship, I also faced some challenges like; poor mobilization of the farmers, lack of veterinary drugs and equipment at the Sub-County, limited transport means for field workin the production department and poor turn up of the farmers to the training. In conclusion all the activities were implemented and industrial training was carried out successfully. I was able to gain a lot from it, I was in position of getting practical skills and knowledge in line with my career and relating with people in the field. The technical advice that I provided addressed farmers' problem and needs. Much as all were successfully done, there were also some little challenges which hindered the smooth running of the activities making me recommend that proper mobilization of farmers must improve for the training programs to solve problems of poor turn up during such activities, Government should also provide more of motorcycles to solve transport problems and more equipment and veterinary drugs to be installed like Deep freezers for cold chain to store vaccine so that animals are treated and vaccinated in time.
