An industrial training report conducted from 28th /02/2022 to 16th /04/2022 at Gomba next generation model farm limited.

Abstract

The main objective of this training was to apply the theory I have acquired into the real life to do different tasks in my field of profession. I conducted my industrial training at Gomba next generation farm limited located in Gomba district Kigezi Sub County. Gomba next generation farm has got various structures which aid in management of the animals. Some of these include: the calf pen where calves are reared, the spray race where animals are sprayed form which is continuous with the cattle crush where the cows are restrained for various management practices like deworming. Cow pens', milking. Parlor, Staff quarters, and water bath at the entrance to different structures for disinfection, the fence and the kitchen are other structures found on the farm. The exercise ran from lit April to 8th may during which I participated in a number of activities like dehorning, calf management, parasite control, synchronization, deworming, cleaning, feeding and feed formulation, milking, and many others. During this period, I acquired a number of skills like; designing a calf pen. detecting animals on heat. to be served, identification of sick animals to be treated, operating a milking machine to mention but a Few. However, I also encountered a number challenges: like Long-distance from the farm tony place of residence and poor network the area. In conclusion, the exercise gave me a good learning experience and objectives were achieved to a large extent.
