Report for industrial training conducted at Bugiri district local government from 28th February to 22th April 2022

Abstract

Internship (industrial training) is a requirement for students. It is important to gain practical experience by applying knowledge and skills into practice in a professional environment and helping students step close to the door of career. In today's highly competitive job market, having work experience becomes an advantage in finding a job or starting an enterprise. Like other students, I conducted industrial training from 28th February to 22nd April 2022. It was lucky for me accepted at BDLG in the department of production and marketing particularly the veterinary section. Bugiri district local government was carved out of greater Iganga from Bukoli County and granted status in 1997. It is located at Latitude and Longitude 0.5500 and 33.7500 respectively. The veterinary sector has extension staff mandated to provide veterinary and animal husbandry services to farmers in the district to increase livestock production. During the internship period, I performed s number of tasks including artificial insemination, castration, disease diagnosis and treatment, dehorning, vaccination, trainings, licensing cattle traders, meat inspection, showcasing in the expo, assisting in delivery etc. in which I attained a number of skills. These activities were possible because had a theoretical background from university. The skills gained will be paramount in impelling my future career plans.
