Abstract:
Industrial training is the practice carried out by every institution, university, colleges in order to qualify for the award of degrees, masters, diplomas and certificates.
The major purpose of this training was to improve on the practical skills and knowledge of students.
Under the course of animal production and management. The veterinary sector is under the department of production and marketing, where I was posted for a period of ten weeks in Bungokho sub-county Mbale district.
The sub-county is composed of five parishes, and thirty-seven villages respectively.
The main activities carried out during the training include: meat inspection and veterinary public health, castration, piggery, poultry production and management, pests and disease control, vaccination of pets and poultry against viral diseases, record keeping, and ambulatory services General problems faced by livestock farmers in Mbale District.
The common diseases in district are protozoans and helminthosis
Poor and non-palatable pastures
Challenges faced by internees during industrial training
Difficult terrains, Lack of enough transport
During the training. we observed that there is much progress. achieved by the people Mbale district, Though the period for internship was limited, it has helped me to acquire practical skills and knowledge in meat inspection, disease diagnosis and treatment, how to interact with farmers, I therefore, suggest that internship should continue in higher institution of learning.
The university should provide Students with guiding report formats in advance as these help students the submit reports in time.
