An internship report carried out at Uganda Martyrs University farm located in Nkozi Mpigi district.

Abstract

The abstract contains the content in this report in summery. It contains the summary of all the activities during the exercise of internship and the historical background of the farm. The conclusions and the recommendation of the farm. The farm operates two sections, that is crop section and animal section, under animal section, the farm runs two enterprises which are piggery and dairy enterprises. In the diary enterprises deals with animals of Friesian breed and the piggery enterprise deals with pigs of large white breeds. This report is organized in chapters where chapter one describes introduction of the farm owner Uganda martyr’s university, the historical background of the farm, the objectives of the farm, mission, vision, goal, the structural organization of the farm. The major products and services the farm offers to the community of Nkozi and the owners of the farm.

And chapter two describes the activities that were conducted during internship in details, under chapter two sections the farm owns these sections crop and animal sections. And the activities include; spraying of cattle, treating of animals, castrating, de-horning, feeding of the farm animals both the pigs and cattle, making of silage, milking of dairy cows, promoting hygiene at the farm which was done in different ways, fencing paddocks for grazing cattle, improvement of pastures at the farm. Chapter three describes the skills and qualification gained from the internship which includes interaction skills during field, castration skill, and knowledge on animal health as my professional is concern and I was responsible of different activities at the farm for example feeding the animal at the farm. And the influence of the attachment career plans. In addition, chapter four contains the conclusion and recommendation to the farm about what should be put in place at the farm and giving some advices about the farm management and report concludes with references and appendices
