The main objectives of this industrial training include to make students benefit from the skills and knowledge gained from the fields, apply the knowledge they get from the classroom in the field and build confidence in the students. The farm comprises of two sections the goats and cattle. The breeds of cattle include Friesian, jersey, Ayrshire, Guernsey, brown Swiss and the goats are Boer breed. various activities were carried out which include milking, deworming of both goats and cattle, bucket feeding of cows, animal ear tagging, pasture management, castration dipping, hoof trimming, dehorning, treatment of sick animals, among others. These activities have made me to gain a lot of skills and knowledge like; deworming of goats and cattle, skills in Castration, skills in general management of animals, communication skills.
During internship, I also faced some challenges including rainy seasons, long distance moved to the farm due to lack of near accommodation for internship students, limited enterprises where piggery, poultry rabbits are missing here I did not attain the management skills in those enterprises.
I recommend that the farm should get nearby accommodation for the students, I also recommend the farm to introduce new enterprises like poultry and piggery for efficient learning.
