An industrial training report showing skills gained at Kampala capital city authority (KCCA).

Abstract

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is the governing body of the Capital City on behalf of the central government. The Authority entails 10 directorates where the Veterinary services fall under the Public Health Services and Environment while the Animal production under the Gender community services and Production. The industrial training at KCCA started from 28th February to 6th May 2022 where I was attached to different farms Including poultry, dairy farms and abattoir. Each attachment had a supervisor to ensure that I do the tasks assigned and offer assistance where necessary. The objective of this Industrial training was to acquaint myself with various animal husbandry practices, apply the knowledge gained in class in the field and build confidence. However, some challenges emerged like moving to distant places, moving very early (3am) to the abattoir so as to meet the inspection activities. These can be addressed by embracing more practical works in relation to, and in combination with, the theories students study in class so that there is minimum supervision during the attachment period. In conclusion, the internship was a success. It gave me the zeal to undertake my career with the importance it deserves, was able to get practical skills and knowledge in line with my career. I know I will never regret having gone to KCCA for my industrial training.
