Abstract:
This report is a compilation of what I learnt and did during my farm and community practice, which prevailed for ten weeks in Ngetta ZARDI located in Lango sub-region in the Northern part of Uganda. The farm practice is a necessity for partial fulfilment of a requirement for the award of a degree Bachelor of Animal Production and Management. The training was carried out with the objectives of exposing students to various farm enterprises and community hence strengthening their extension competence and capability in areas of communication, planning and community interactions, give students chance to have hands on experience in relation to animal production, enable students relate class work for filed situations and introduce students to basic research concept.
The activities that are done orientation, spraying dairy cattle, daily recording of milk produced, cleaning milking parlour, collection of manure, cleaning of goats unit, cutting of grass, feeding of goats with hey, providing water to the goats, treatment, pasture identification, pasture improvement, slashing around the poultry unit, lecture on afflatoxine, transportation of fingerlings, stocking fish pond and pond management.
