Abstract:
A report of industrial training carried out at NaSARRI livestock farm in Serere District, it contains chapter one; introduction containing the history, type of ownership, products produced, services offered and collaborators of NaSARRl. Chapter two description of attachment containing description of work station i.e., characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of breeds of animals kept in NaSARRI. Activities performed i.e., daily, weekly, monthly, annually and others and description of specific attachment having farm structures like weigh bridge, cattle dip etc. and tools and equipment's like drenching and bolting guns. Chapter three impacts of attachments having skills gained, responsibilities under taken, how the industrial training influences my future career plan d how the industrial training activities collorate with lecture room knowledge and challenges faced. Chapter four having conclusions and recommendation.
In conclusion the industrial training was very good and gained a lot of skills, however there were some challenges like walking long distances to and from the farm, use of expired drugs like opticlox and duo dip, weak paddocks, shortage of enough tools and equipment's etc.
I recommend that the management of NaSARRl to increase the number of tools and equipment's, farm manager should take note expiry dates of drugs before taking them to the farm, weak wooden poles should be replaced with the metallic, concrete or poles which can regrow, bulls and he goats should be separated from the herd to avoid inbreeding and injuries due to fighting.
