Abstract:
My industrial training was carried out from Busulani subcounty in Sironko district. The activities done included, orientation, monitoring NUSAF Ill, OWC and DDEG animals, poultry vaccination, cabbage and tomato management, monitoring farmers in Bunakyilima parish to get a model fanner and spraying animals against external parasites. Other activities Were establishing a coffee demonstration plot in Makuyu primary school and visiting farmers to advise them on good management practices in Buluzwala parish. The major purpose of this IT was to gain skills necessary for my profession and to aid farmers improve on their methods of production. The. findings. among others included poor management of crops and animals, selling some animals donated by government; being rigid to adopt new agricultural technologies; believing that animals should only be treated when sick and farmers not planting pastures for feeding livestock. In conclusion however the industrial training course registered a number of successes despite a few short comings like- moving long distances and weather challenges especially rain.
Finally, I would like to make the following recommendations, Busulani Sub County should set up a demonstration plot at the sub county for study purposes and put laws to stop farmers from selling items given to them by the government. Also recommend that the management of Busitema University provide transport means like cars or motorcycles to ease the supervision of IT.
